Description |
Vivian diesel stationary engine - serial number not stated. 80 horse power. Was one of two from the scow Echo which traded from Blenheim wharf down the Opawa river to Wellington. After crossing the Wairau Bar sail was used to cross Cook Strait when the engines would be started again. The second engine got burnt while being used at the Rapaura sawmill in Hammerichs Road, Blenheim.
