Collection VFM (unaccessioned) General
Description The "Blackstone" oil stationary engine - no serial number, but has verticle number 118011 - three horse power. An attached plate has 28/15 number 8173, probably casting numbers for the cast iron. Sole agents for this machine were Andrews & Beaven Limited, Christchurch, New Zealand. This is a turn of the century engine which runs on diesel or crude oil. It has a hot bulb [image 4] which needs a blow lamp to heat it in order to get the engine started. Possibly used at Hillersden woolshed, the donor lived nearby.

Donated by Ken Anderson of Wairau Valley and owned by the Marlborough Vintage Farm Machinery Society Inc.
