Collection VFM (unaccessioned) General
Description Red garden tractor/cultivator - serial number 4622. Made between 1945 and 1960 by Mayfield Engineering (Croydon) Ltd, London S.E.25.

It has a 2 horse power Villiers engine which runs on petrol. The engine is made by The Villiers Engineering Co. Ltd, Wolverhampton, England and is No. 841/79665 D, Mark 10.

This type of garden tractor pulls itself around by the wheels, as opposed to a rotary hoe which has to be pushed by a person.

Small garden tractors, like this one, were designed and built after the war when food was desperately needed. Their small size allowed them to be used on any small plot of land.

Donor is unknown. Owned by Vintage Farm Machinery Society Inc.
