L - Yellow sticker number 71: 1 x demijohn (crock). A demijohn (or carboy) is a rigid container with a typical capacity of 20 to 60 L (5 to 15 gallons, primarily used for transporting fluids, often water or chemicals. They are also used for in-home fermentation of beverages, often beer or wine (source: Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia). This is a small one in a wicker basket and it has lost its stopper. The lip for pouring is broken. This demijohn was at Cob Cottage in September 2006 when Steve Austin photographed it in the Pantry. According to a list of Cob Cottage contents found in an MHS correspondence file between two items for August 1967 & February 1968 (Bay 91/shelf B/Box MHS Corresp.& Balance Files 1967-70/Folder MHS Correspondence Y/E 31/8/1969), there are demijohns (unknown number) in the pantry. Lent to Marlborough Vintage Farm Machinery Society on 23 January 2013 for their farm cottage.
