Collection Ron Hebberd
Description A 2-speed wheelchair which was on its way to the rubbish dump when Ron Hebberd saved it. The left side handle steers it and the two handles used together like pumps drive it along. It was designed for young men who had lost one or both legs in World War 1. They still had strong arms to propel themselves along. This vehicle is going to be restored. It uses two 26 inch bicycle tyres at the back and one 20 inch bicycle tyre in the front. It has an external contracting brake.
