Date 1800s
Description Wooden collar box with the initials J. T. E. carved on the bottom. There is a lid that fits over the top of the box. Painted black/brown on the outside and blue on the inside. Carved on the outside (both box and lid) to represent a strap and rivet.
It was used by James Jackson as a sewing box when he worked aboard a man of war in his youth,
