Description:
Mr Laidlaw, who has missed only one show since 1895 - and that sometime in th 1930s when the horse I was preparing to take to the show kicked me the night before.

He showed Clydesdales in a small way, but once established on his Fairhall Valley farm he became the first breeder in Marlborough to show Corriedales. He also had much to do with the buildings at the Maxwell Road Showgrounds. He was made a life member of the Association in 1957.

He was born at Delta Station, where his father was a manager for the late Dr Renwick, 74 years ago. He later took over part of his father's farm - his brother took the other part. Mr Laidlaw lost his only son, Colin, in action in Italy during WWII.
