2 of 2: Young child's lacey white petticoat worn by Jack Morgan. Donated by Mrs. Gwen Turner in 2005. "An important rite of passage for boys, often marked by a photograph, was their 'breeching', when they discarded their infants' petticoats and donned their first 'grown up' trousers (usually shorts or knickerbockers) at around the age of four or five [source: Family Tree magazine, July 2010, page 28]. |
