Description 1 Beam Compass. This is a long piece of brown wood, 100cm long, with a metal attachment at the bottom with a sharp point on one side, a similar metal attachment in the centre with a blunt point (this attachment can be moved up and down the stick) and a metal circle on the top for hanging it up. One side of the wood is a ruler measuring 3 feet long and one inch wide.
