Caption 19 Picton's first Railway Station, in 1875. Situated in London Quay, on the flat garden, just to the right of the War Memorial Arch, the station sat adjacent to the overseas wharf jutting out from the end of Wellington Street. This station was an extended example of the design used at Spring Creek. In these times, passengers could travel first, or second class. We can see that first class fare-payers, in their four-wheeler carriage, got the benefit of neat Holland blinds, and probably padded seats. Heated carriages were not available for some decades. 2009.067.0019
