Description |
Small linen sampler made by Catharine Parker of cross stitch with stylised crowns, animals and flowers. Cotton thread in red, green, cream, blue. In the upper portion of the sampler is a series of initials or letters of the alphabet - members of the family perhaps - JP, RP, IP, JP, RP,BS, GP, WP, WP, Catharine , EP. Linen fabric and plain weave. There is a small hole top left corner, some of the thread has faded. This sampler was stitched onto calico backing and stretched over a board in the 1990s. I [Pam Saunders] don't remember it being washed at the time.
