Date pre 1858
Description 1 old candle maker (says Brayshaw, page 5). MHS minute book 2, page 44, dated 26/5/1958 says, "One candlemould. The candlemould had been brought to Port Chalmers by Mrs. Taylor's parents in 1858 (sic)." Candle mould has four candle moulds in three rows. It's very rusty.

Found in Museum storeroom by Steve Austin on 26 May 2011 with a label (since destroyed on Steve Austin's orders), "Candle mould .. brought to Dunedin in one of the first ships 1848. Donated by Rev and Mrs. G.L. Taylor while serving in Blenheim (1958)."

In a list of objects at Cob Cottage c.1968 in Archives/Bay 91/Shelf B/Box MHS Corresp. & Balance & Files 1967-70/Folder MHS Correspondence Y/E 31/8/1969, there is a, "Candle mould, brought to New Zealand 1848 donated by Reverend and Mrs. G.L. Taylor."
