Collection McCusker Negatives
Photographer McCusker, Arthur
Description A collection of glass plates with views of the Marlborough Sounds area. None of the plates have specific locations identified.
Identified from a researcher (12/02/2013) as Resolution Bay homestead and prior to 1912. The other structures in the McCusker collection (boat shed, woodshed stock yards etc) were all lost in 1979 when a large landslide destroyed a lot of the old farm amenities however the house was spared.
Image 5 The western side of Motuara looking south west, back towards Bottle Rock on right, Kurakura in the medium distance and Arapawa with Cook's lookout and Kaitepeha on the horizon. (identified 08/04/2014)
The man in the boat is possibly Robert Ewing jnr who owned the house in Resolution Bay in the same series of photos and had been caretaker of Motuara until January 1906.

Listed in ' McCusker Negatives - General Collection Book 2' as ' Sounds Scenes".

A Post Office was located in this building between 17 April 1899 and the 1st June 1925. Robert Ewing was the first Post Master.
