Distance view of the Awatere bridge 1902. Note the spelling of Awetere in the title.
Taken from the photograph: "Seddon. Looking down the Awatere River to the combined road and rail bridge north of Seddon. The bridge was built on contract for 22,600 pounds and the Blenheim-Seddon line was opened in 1902. Copied 1961, from Dalton Estate, Canvastown."
The huts in the foreground probably housed some of the bridge builders. |
