Ballot For Military Trainees. A number of compulsory military trainees in the next few days will learn that they have been released from their annual training commitments by ballot. Conforming with the recent decision to reduce the strength of non-priority units, the 1st Battalion of the Nelson-Marlborough-West Coast Regiment held its ballot in the Army Hall, Blenheim, last night. Drawing the numbers in this photograph are (left to right) Senior Sergeant S. J. Lush (representing the Police), Major T. F. Hegglun and Mr. G. W. Dance (Labour Department) while keeping check on the figures are Staff-Sergeant J. G. Roy and Captain M. C. Stanaway M. C.
