Description Image from Negative number 221, published in The Marlborough Express, Thursday, November 7, 1957, page 12.

Awatere Pastoral Country Where Production Is High. This is a typical view of the Awatere. Taken from near the summit of the Lion's Back, just south of Seddon, the panorama takes in most of what is known as Sedgemere, a fertile property of 1200 acres which was subdivided into three farms for the settlement of servicemen after the last war. The view shows the rear portion of Mr, J.M. Davidson's property, from where the fat lambs of the season are drafted each year, and the farms of Mr. L. Fergusson and Mr. M.E. Hammond, all three having a part of Sedgemere. In the foreground is the Blind River; the Holdens Range is in the background.
