Description Image from Negative number 179, published in The Marlborough Express Tuesday October 22, 1957, page 6.

Museum Piece. This ancient household implement was unearthed during renovations being carried out in the Bank of New Zealand premises. It is an old-fashioned iron of the type heated by charcoal. There is an adjustable air vent at the back and, of course, a chimney to permit the fumes to escape. The iron is to be given to the Marlborough Historical Society for inclusion in their collection of pioneer articles.
