Overland Mail From French Pass. Mail from the French Pass was brought out officially for the first time yesterday by a newly-instigated mail, freight and passenger service along the new road. Pictured outside the Rai Valley Post Office yesterday are Mr D.F. Graham, contractor to the Post Office and proprietor of the road service, and Mr Graham's first passenger, Mr Tom Wells, of D'Urville Island, who was connnecting with a bus service to Nelson. Mr Graham made his first trip from the Pass yesterday morning and returned in the afternoon with a full load of passengers and freight.
