"Although shortage of cable has caused delays in the Blenheim-Picton toll cable laying project, good progress is being made by Post and Telegraph Department employees. For some time they have been working on the middle section of the project, in the Koromiko area, but they have now moved the scene of operations to the Blenheim end where a double section of cable is being laid. Seen in the foreground of this photograph is a special trench digging machine. The heavily armoured and insulated cable is being placed in the trench by hand."
