"It may be raining but, like the Royal mail, the Beaver Road water main must go through. Borough employees were clad in oilskins and working in inches of mud and slush yesterday, connecting households to the new main. It replaces an old spiral main, leaks from which have saturated the foundations of Beaver Road for years, causing the surface to break up. This photograph shows Mr. C. Wilkin welding one of the connecting pipes. Behind him are Messrs. W. Pope (left), foreman, and L. Arnold."
