Newspaper image from Negative number 36A, referenced to scrapbook 1 - No.1 to 641, 23.7.57 to 28.8.57 - and published in The Marlborough Express Wednesday September 4, 1957, page 6.
"1 of 3: Stages in the transport and erection of the big rotary machine from Palmerston North which is being installed to print The Express are shown in these pictures. Above is a railway truck load of parts landed at Picton from the Echo, comprising seven packing cases and two open-crated pieces. Altogether there are more than 50 packages of sizes similar to these; they came in three shipments, two by the Echo and one by the Tamahine. The complete machine weighs over 40 tons." |
