"Driving the last bolt in the last plank of the new decking on the second Upton Downs Bridge, Messrs. A.C. Graves and B. Gifford, of Seddon, have something to smile about. After four weeks work overhauling and renewing the bridges they were reopened to traffic last night shortly after this photograph was taken. The work is being done by labour contract by B.B. Garnham, contractor, of Blenheim and will cost about 4,000 pounds when completed. A small amount of timber replacement work is still to be carried out."
