One vase. This vase is of Chinese origin and is hand-painted, the characters on it show the dragon, depicting power, the lotus, depicting purity, and a cloud, depicting a journey. It was found on the Edwin Fox between frames on the starboard side forward during the cleanup process. It is possible this pottery would have come onboard the Edwin Fox in 1857 when she made a trip from Shantou in China to Cuba taking 288 Chinese labourers to work in the sugar-cane fields. Teh voyage took from August 1857 to March 1858.
