1 ship's Patent Log and fittings, minus logline (Walker's Patent "Cherub" model). A Patent Log is a propeller drawn through the water that operates a meter on the boat registering the speed and distance sailed, also called a Taffrail Log. [Source: http:www.schoonerman.com].
In a letter with the donation Mr. Alistair McDonald says, "As my father sailed 'to and fro' in square rigged ships I have a couple of very old navigational items. Ship's Patent Log and fittings (minus logline) (Walker's Patent "Cherub" Model) (age probably 19th century).
