Description A piece of Rosewood (Dalbergia Sissoo). Native to the foothills of the Himalayas, India, Pakistan, rosewood makes excellent charcoal for heating and cooking. This piece was found between the frames of the Edwin Fox amidships, it is possible it would have been brought onboard for firewood to heat the galley for cooking. Identification of this sample was made by the New Zealand Forest Research Institute.
