Tractors and Crawlers from the collection of the Marlborough Vintage Farm Machinery Society Inc
The Marlborough Vintage Farm Machinery Society Inc operates from a number of buildings in the Brayshaw Park complex in Blenheim.
The Society collects and preserves equipment used on farms in the Marlborough district. The restoration of many items is complete while others form on-going projects with members contributing many hours to fully strip and rebuild these relics of our rural past.
This exhibit showcases Tractors and Crawlers. Tractors typically have wheels, whereas Crawlers have tracks. A crawler with a blade would typically be called a Bulldozer and used in earthmoving operations. A crawler without a blade would usually drag an implement of some type, often in conditions that would see a tractor stuck or where the enormous pulling power of the tracks is of advantage.
If you would like to see the machinery in person, the main collection is housed in the Denton Building at Brayshaw Park. It is open on Sunday afternoons from 1.30 p.m. until 4.30 p.m. There is ample parking and entrance is by donation.
