Collection VFM (unaccessioned) General
Date 1930
Description Dark green, Oliver, Hart-Parr tractor, model 28-44 - serial number 500453. Made in 1930 during the transition between Hart-Parr and Oliver. This is a big tractor and this new design Hart-Parr with its vertical motor, was a departure for the 2 cylinder engine. This tractor has a 4 cylinder motor, petrol/kerosene. It also has a belt pulley for driving a threshing machine, which was standard equipment up to at least 1950. The seat swivels.

One of only three imported to New Zealand by Andrews & Beaven of Christchurch in 1931; this is the only one remaining. It was used on threshing machines and for agricultural work throughout Marlborough for 24 years before being retired in 1955. After not running for 50 years it was restored by Vintage Farm Machinery Society members in 2005.

Purchased from W.G.G. Cuddon of Blenheim on 24 October 1931 by J.W.T. Donald of Havelock Suburban for $480. Dale Donald, son of J.W.T., has given it on permanent loan to Vintage Farm Machinery Society Inc.
