Description
Homemade, wooden toy whale boat, named "Cachalot 111", painted dark green, brown and red and has metal railings. Cachalot is another name for sperm whale and was the name of three Perano whale boats. This model appears to be based on the boats in photograph records 2009.067.0090 and 2009.067.0091 (see related). The whale chaser Cachalot 1 was a speedboat with an aircraft engine and used by J. Perano in 1936 [Reference: Popular Science, December 1936, Volume 129, Number 6].
