Description I’m Sheldon!

This model of me was inspired by the land snails found on Blumine Island, in Queen Charlotte Sound. We are only found in New Zealand. Our family lays eggs through a hole in our necks, and we slurp up worms like spaghetti. Yum!

Possums eat us, so major possum control operations mean that we can survive.

If you see our shells in the wild, please leave them. Other snails eat the empty shells, and get valuable nutrients from them. We like to recycle our homes.

You guessed it, my real name is Powelliphanta hochstetteri bicolor!
