Description |
Muka and Kiwi feather kete, unlined. Top finished with muka plaited and turned over to form strengthened edge. Two fibre tasels (6 cm) on one side - two holes on other side indicating that there were another two on the other edge. The body of the kete is made of kiwi feathers woven using the traditional method. The remaining twisted fibre eminating from one of the tassels would indicate a looped handle of 12 cm on each side. The fineness of this material and the fact that the kete has not been pulled out of shape would indicate (although it has been used a great deal) that it has only been used to carry light articles. |
