Rennie Dix Slides
Rennie Dix is a Marlborough 'local' with a background in the medical field, including involvement with Wairau Hospital. He has a collection of slides which have now been scanned into digital form. The slides are unusual in that they are from 1955-1956 and are in full colour. Most photographic material of that age was still in black and white.
The 170 images here are the beginning of the exhibit. While all the slides (about 300) have been digitised and captioned, the task of getting them into PastPerfect before they can be put into the online exhibit is significant and ongoing.
Apart from the medically-oriented slides from Wairau Hospital, there are many slides from tramping trips in the outer areas of Marlborough. In later material there will be some really stunning images of Tuatara on Stephens Island, including one of an adult and juvenile.
