Marlborough Province - down the decades from early days |

Brayshaw, Norman Henry |
Description |
A black and white photograph, originally taken by A. McCusker, showing three ships at Wharves in Blenheim. Goups of people are waiting to board, others are already onboard. Written on the front is, "Shipping, Blenheim".
This is a Norm Brayshaw copy, but there is no piece of card with his typed information with it, only his number stamped on the back.
A scan of this photograph will be used in the Changing European History Gallery 2 display in commemoration of the Marlborough Provincial 150th anniversary on 1 November 2009. ................................................................................................................................................................................Caption 70 The Port of Blenheim at its busiest. Looking upstream, the Opawa is tied to Eckford's downstream wharf. In the middle, and nearer to us, is the Pania. Manoeuvring out to the right is the Wairau. Judging by the crowds, aboard all vessels, and the spectators on the wharf, we might assume it was all part of an organised outing, possibly 20 km down-river, to meet the Wairau River, and then return. 2009.067.0057
