The Pania "maintaining station" just off Eckford's downstream wharf. The river is shown in flood, and the Pania was too heavy for the wharf bollards to hold, hence casting off, and "marking time" out in the current. This odd situation was expensive on fuel, but may have continued for a day or so. What is now the Boathouse Theatre is visible above the Pania's stern. Built by the rowing club, it has a wide launching ramp in front. Looking upstream, around the bend in the Opawa, out of sight to the right, are further wharves backed by a complex of grain, and wool stores, indicated by their roofs. Left of the boathouse, the Omaka (Taylor) River enters as a tributary of the Opawa.
