The vessel tied up is the Ngunguru. The far left building, and high pile wharf belong to the Eckfords. The concealed wharf, holding the Ngunguru belongs to the Fell Brothers, like the large building, directly behind. Opawa Street leads to this wharf complex. Further upstream on the same bank is an unidentified wharf beside the Blenheim Gasworks. In the foreground, Samuel John Heffer is vigorously rowing his own vessel upstream. The sheer height of the wharf piles reflects the then tidal range of at least two metres. 2009.067.0053
