Description |
A black and white photograph showing four men on a train engine in the bush. Written on the back of the photograph in an unknown hand is, "Originally Brownlee Lokey".
Norm Brayshaw has put the number 68-32 on the back of the photograph. This is not his usual numbering system, but is used by him sometimes in conjunction with his stamped number. As there is no stamped number this one has been used instead.
A scan of this photograph will be used in the Changing European History Gallery 2 display in commemoration of the Marlborough Provincial 150th anniversary on 1 November 2009. ................................................................................................................................................................................Caption 54 An original William Brown "Lokey" (locomotive). Three engines handled all the loads heading down the 30 km of track to Blackball. This early 1900s "Lokey" has a good spark arrester on its funnel, preventing summer fires. It also has a substantial cab to keep out the rain. 2009.067.0045
