Description Pulling a stump with a horse in Brownlee's bush, 1903. There are two horses with chains attached to a tree stump, one horse is pulling.

Copied by Norm Brayshaw in 1960 from a photograph supplied by Miss Rose Moore, Havelock.

A scan of this photograph is to be used in the Changing European History Gallery 2 display in commemoration of the Marlborough Provincial 150th anniversary on 1 November 2009.

Horse power!
It is more than likely that this photograph has been created for the photographer. The task is probably beyond one horse's capability. The other horse hasn't been chained in to assist, and instead is content to look on. 2008.165.0029
