Caption 37 Brimmer's Keep it Dark claim near Cullensville in the early 1890s. The forest location afforded freezing, damp shade in winter, making mining operations difficult. The miners' tents appear in the centre right. Tents of another claim, further away, are seen centre left. The aim at this site was to dig down to the solid rock stream bed, and recover gold from crevices, and bottom gravels. This has involved stacking unwanted stones along the banks. The miner in the stream bed, holding the shovel, is placing bottom gravel into the patent gold recovery box, or Long Tom. 2009.067.0032
