Description |
Whitework embroidery collection of 8 pieces. Mainly broderie anglaise, this is when the pattern is drawn or stencilled onto a firm cotton material. The holes are punched out and tacked around for firmness, then oversewn. Fabric/Weave: White cotton/Plain weave. Lace panel is on the left in image 2.
Starting at middle top centre in image one: then left down, right up and then the two doillies.
a. Whitework collar with stylised flowers/leaves and scalloped outside edge. 54cm outer edge. Small darn centre front and on side.
b. Broderie anglaise collar heavily embroidered with stylised flowers and holes. 44cm outer edge. Has some rust marks.
c. Broderie anglaise collar with larger embroidered holes, some stylised flowers and pointed scalloped outside edge. 48cm outer edge. Very damaged at neck edge.
d. Broderie anglaise collar with large embroidered holes on the outer edge, stylised leaves. 122cm outer edge.
e. Broderie anglaise collar with double line of embroidered holes at neckline and forming the scalloped edge. Whitework leaves. 53cm outer edge. Fractured cotton and thread.
f. Whiteworked collar with broderie anglaise holes around outer edge. 50cm outer edge. Some fractured thread and cotton centre back area.
g. Doiley - machine lace edge, whitework. 23cm. Very good condition.
h. Doiley - whitework 14.5cm. |
