Description |
Woman's offwhite, machine made, afternoon cap of lace and net. Found in collection in 2010 by Textiles manager, Pam Saunders, with no donor information. This cap is bottom left in image 2.
Construction details: Two pieces of lace joined together to form a strip (59cm) which would outline the wearer's face. Cotton net forms the body of the cap with an insert of a single strip of lace in the centre back. It is hand-stitched together and the net at the back is turned up with two tucks to shape the back of the cap. |
