Collection MHS (unaccessioned) Textiles
Description Kiwi feather muff, unlined. Internal circumference is 37 cm. Finished each end where muka is turned over and plaited. There are fine fibre pompoms stitched every 7 cm. The body is of kiwi feathers woven using the traditional feather cloak method where feathers are attached in small bunches of 3/4 and woven into the surface as work proceeds (source "Kakahu Maori Cloaks" by Mick Prendergast). There is one red feather approximately 7 cm from one end - maybe a kaka feather.
