Kiwi feather muff, unlined. Internal circumference is 37 cm. Finished each end where muka is turned over and plaited. There are fine fibre pompoms stitched every 7 cm. The body is of kiwi feathers woven using the traditional feather cloak method where feathers are attached in small bunches of 3/4 and woven into the surface as work proceeds (source "Kakahu Maori Cloaks" by Mick Prendergast). There is one red feather approximately 7 cm from one end - maybe a kaka feather. |
