Collection MHS (unaccessioned) Textiles
Description Pink muka band with plaited edge. The body of the puipui is a mixture of rolled flax and muka. Muka is dyed pink. [The colour possibly obtained by boiling up the pink covers of the magazine, Auckland Weekly. As told to textile manager, Pam Saunders, by a woman who worked with Maori textiles]. The top part of the skirt has a muka woven backing of 15 cm long. If the woman was not wearing under garments it would cover her. There are six twisted muka and tassels hanging from the top of the skirt. There is a mixture of traditional and non traditional weaving. There are four rows of pink twisted muka in the skirt.
