Scuba Championship: "Divers arriving at Bobs Bay [Picton] for Scuba Championship, September 1986".
The first three photographs are missing in this series:
1) "Brian Dixon (Kodak) and Roy Phillips (Chico) at Top of the South Scuba Championships September 1986".
2) "Official barge for Scuba Championships arriving at Bobs Bay, September 1986.
3) "At Bobs Bay, Picton, September 1986".
Part of the Brayshaw Park, Beavertown photographic inventory, taken by Roger Thwaites in the 1980s. The Scuba Championship was not part of Beavertown, but was, perhaps, a personal interest of Mr. Thwaites.
Although Mr. Thwaites dates this series of photographs precisely at September 1986, the Top of The South Scuba Diving competitions were held in Picton in September 1987 [source: 1987: The year that was... A review of news events in Marlborough in the past year, published by The Marlborough Express, Wednesday, December 30, 1987, page 16]. Perhaps they were held both years. |
