Description |
Flat wooden map case labelled, "Mr. A. Dobson", containing several newspapers, maps, charts and prints (identified as Box 11).
Note from the box made by Joan Dobson: The box is made, we're told, of English Spruce and now has a cleat round edge, this is of Douglas Fir. The Alfred Dobson box is considered to have conveyed A.D. survey maps. He emigrated to New Zealand as a civil engineer. The lid had become split over the years into 3 parts and the lining of canvas loosley held them together. Box repaired March 1977 for Miss E.J. Dobson by Mr V Garrod? retired cabinet maker, cost $12.00 |
