Description Building a bridge over the Awatere River.

Taken from the photograph: "Seddon. Building the bridge across the Awatere River at Seddon about 1900.
This would be the initial stages for the main pilings - the taller unit on the left is to run on rails - this would provide a unit for driving the main piles. Notice the men at the winch in the centre of the photograph, they would be hauling up the monkey for the pile driver at the outer end.
Copied 1961, from Marlborough Historical Society original."
