Marlborough Museum holds a complete collection of 'The Marlborough Pictorial' from its inception in 1966 through to May 1974. This exhibit contains full copies of all Marlborough Pictorials held. Each is an Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) file. Even the smallest will be slow unless you have a broadband connection, but the magazines are a great reminder of Marlborough Past. They are organised by year, oldest first. The indicies are incomplete at this point, only H-Z exist in electronic form in the Museum archives. The Museum does hold a bound copy of A-G and H-Z. Later we hope to convert the A-G printed listing back into a form suitable for the Web. The index entries tell you the issue and page, but there is no direct link to the file - you will need to open the appropriate scanned copy and page through until you locate the reference. Even H-Z represents 20,000 entries, it is a lot to work with. Note the indicies are not guaranteed to be comprehensive. They represent a huge amount of work from a dedicated volunteer some years ago, but for obvious reasons there is no simple way to check they are accurate or complete. If you have trouble seeing the detail in your browser, right click on the page, then left click 'save as' or similar. Save it somehere you recognise, then when the download is complete find the file in 'my computer' or 'windows explorer' and double click. Then it should load in Acrobat Reader which will let you zoom in and out. |
