| Vitrified [glazed] plate, manufactured by Grindley Hotel Ware, England and distributed in New Zealand by Gibsons & Paterson Limited. Printed, with "Commercial Hotel Havelock". The china is a white design with a coloured stripe around the circumference and a painted logo on the outer edge. The plate arrived in the mail with a covering letter from Susan McNiece who is a grand-daughter of Clarence Mills, one of the owners of the last Commercial Hotel, which burnt down about 1930. The plate has been in their family ever since. Placed on Havelock database 22 April 2009. |
