Description |
One half of a horse collar hame. Metal with a wooden block behind the hook. The long metal arm is formed as a hollow tube. The hames were used as a pair to go over a horse collar, joined at the top with a chain and fastened at the bottom through the metal bracket. The reins were attached to the rings. A chain was attached to the hook so that the horse could haul machinery such as a plough. The hook is in two parts and patented by Vorbach. Vorbachs were blacksmiths at Renwick The piece of wood behind the hook would have been added later. This hame came from the East Coast Inn at Ward. |
