Description Hoist or winch from the Edwin Fox, used for rolling up rope when the ship was converted to a freezing vessel. The handle on the top rod is missing. The top rod can slide to the left and right; in one position the bottom section turns one way, in the other position it would turn in reverse - to wind in the rope or let it out. Perhaps change the gearing ratio too.
